L.A. Art exhibition

Mission

The L.A. Art Exhibition is a cohensive body of contemporary art established to enhance the educational and aesthetic experience of the California State University, Los Angeles. The collection exposes the individualistic expression of the diverse and culturally pluralistic population of the University and the Los Angeles regional  community. The L. A. Art Exhibition is a living collection, one that continues to grow while ampliying the understanding and appreciation of art. The exhibition itself is a work in progress as it continues to acquire art created by emerging regional artists.

History

The L.A. Art Exhibition began with the donation of seven pieces of artwork by local artist and alumna, Mary Ham Hyun. In 1998, with the completion of the L.A. ARTproject , the University-Student Union purchased approximately thirty pieces of art by twenty four artists. The Board of Directors and Executive Director of the University-Student Union express the desire to increase the aesthetic and educational experience of the university by continuing to acquire original art. By doing so, the unique attributes of this ongoing collection attempt to capture the many dimensions of Angelino culture.
