S.T.A.R.S. Program
Students Taking Action for Retention and Success is a Cross Cultural Centers initiative aimed at pairing 1st year and transfer students with continuing students, staff, and faculty mentors at Cal State L.A. Through formal and informal programs and social mixers, S.T.A.R.S. participants will build a path toward academic and social success at Cal State L.A.
S.T.A.R.S. events are open to ALL students, regardless of their affiliation with the S.T.A.R.S. program. Applications are available at the Cross Cultural Centers, 2nd floor, University-Student Union.

How Do We Get Matched?
- It’s never perfect. Be patient with the relationship building process.
- The program administrator will develop mentor and mentee profiles based on your application content allowing potential mentors and mentees the ability to access them and "rank" those profiles you believe you connect strongly with.
- It is not gender/race/identity based. Although we can consider those factors if this is important to the mentor or mentee.
Past S.T.A.R.S. Programs and Events:
- Welcome Back Mixers
- Mentor and Mentee Training Sessions
- Academic Success Workshops
- Job Searching During a Recession
