The Gender & Sexuality Resource Center and Cross Cultural Centers in the University-Student Union are seeking nominations for the 14th Annual Cal State L.A. Distinguished Women Awards. This event honors women faculty, staff, and administrators from Cal State L.A. for their many outstanding achievements and contributions to the community.
Women will be recognized for a variety of accomplishments. The selection committee will look at achievements in the nominee's field, significant contributions to Cal State L.A., commitment to students, commitment to women's issues, community involvement, and professional recognition.
We welcome both self-nominations as well as nominations from faculty, administrators, staff, and students of outstanding women on campus. Nominees must be full-time employees of Cal State L.A. or its auxiliaries. Emerti faculty are eligible, however past Distinguished Women Award recipients are not eligible (please see attached list).
Fill out the nomination form and submit to: Frederick Smith, Cross Cultural Centers, University-Student Union Room 206 by Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 12 noon. Please feel free to attach bios or other supporting documents to the nomination form. Nomination forms are also available and can be completed online . Please submit four (4) copies of all completed nomination forms and supporting documents. Nomination materials will not be returned. Applicants will not receive feedback on nomination materials submitted.
Honorees will be introduced at the event and will be presented with an award from the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center and University-Student Union. The reception will include entertainment and refreshments and will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 3 – 4:30 pm in the Los Angeles Room, 3rd floor, University-Student Union. Introductions of women will be made at 3:30 pm.
