Event Details

The 1972 implosion of the Pruitt-Igoe public housing project in St. Louis has become one of the most iconic images in the urban history of the United States. It was not only, as critic Charles Jencks commented, “the day Modern architecture died,” but it also marked the abrupt end of many communities that had found profound meaning in living there. Conversation with architecture experts and preservation advocates to follow the film. Directed by Chad Freidrichs, 2011, 79 minutes.
